The Bowie & Dick test is a recognized test for testing steam penetration and air leakage in vacuum sterilizers.

The B&W test corresponds to the standards EN ISO 11140-1 and EN ISO 11140-4 (class 2 + 4)

A daily steam penetration test should be performed in each autoclave. The color of the indicator changes from pink to black, which confirms that steam penetration has taken place successfully to the middle of the sterilization package.
